ABU DHABI, 21st April, 2025 (WAM) -- The 34th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), taking place from 26th April to 5th May, will present a dynamic and diverse programme of events, reinforcing its status as a leading global platform that reflects the Emirate of Abu Dhabi's civilisational and cultural vision.
This year's edition features more than 2,000 cultural events designed to engage all age groups and cater to a wide range of intellectual, artistic and cultural interests.
Coinciding with the launch of the first phase of a community campaign to promote sustainable reading, the fair aligns with the UAE's declaration of 2025 as the Year of Community.
The campaign, initiated by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), is held under the theme "Knowledge Illuminates Our Community", and supports the Centre's ongoing mission to elevate the Arabic language and embed a culture of reading across society.
The initiative emphasises the importance of reading as a tool for community development and social cohesion. It also seeks to nurture the talents and potential of different community groups, particularly youth, by empowering them through mastery of the Arabic language - a key pillar of identity that embodies heritage and shared values.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the ALC and Director of ADIBF, stated that the alignment of the fair with the launch of the campaign adds to the fair's importance this year and provides crucial support for the sustainable reading initiative's objectives.
He explained that the campaign is among several ALC initiatives aimed at reinforcing the Arabic language, embedding reading in daily life, and supporting the Year of Community by translating its values into practical outcomes.
Al Tunaiji said that this year, more than 1,400 exhibitors from over 90 countries are participating, speaking more than 60 languages. Notably, 120 exhibitors are taking part for the first time, marking an 18 percent growth rate.
The fair will also welcome publishers from 20 countries participating for the first time, spanning four continents and representing more than 25 languages. In total, ADIBF 2025 includes 28 international pavilions, 87 local and international government entities, 13 author-publishers, 15 universities and 8 initiatives dedicated to supporting the publishing sector.
As part of the sustainable reading campaign, the ALC will host over 2,000 cultural events, including 1,700 creative activities aimed at fostering a lasting culture of reading across the community.
