Saudi Arabia shuts down 27 food stores over health concerns

Abu Dhabi News.Net

Twenty seven retail food outlets in a Saudi Arabian city have been shut down by health authorities.

The closures follow repeated warnings by inspectors to implement health and safety guidelines.

Health authorites have been working the city of Taif carrying out checks on food shops, service stations, and shopping malls.

Muhammad Al Mukhrij, the Taif Municipality chairman, told the Saudi Arab News newspaper, “We’ll impose the maximum punishment on violators. We won’t show any leniency toward anyone who tampers with the health of citizens and residents.”
