Fighting in Tripoli flares again
Abu Dhabi News.Net Friday 25th July, 2008
Renewed sectarian fighting in Lebanon's northern port of Tripoli has sparked up, killing at least six people and injured more than 30 others.
Rival Sunni and Alawite gunmen have exchanged machinegun and grenade fire between two districts, damaging office buildings, apartment blocks and a mosque.
The fighting comes two weeks after the Sunni-led governing coalition and an opposition alliance led by the Shiite Hizbollah formed a national unity government.
Despite a truce, sectarian violence in Tripoli has claimed at least 18 lives over the past two months.
